Rio Del Mar is a small town about 10 miles south of Santa Cruz. We rented a beach house for a week with Cathy's sister Barbara, and we had our friends the Roche family come down to visit for two days. We met another family in a house a few doors down with kids the same age as Daniel and Andrew, and they turned out to be a lot of fun. We spent our time boogie boarding, making sand castles, having camp fires on the beach at night and taking it pretty easy. We went to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk once. If relaxing was our goal...... mission accomplished.

Footnote: every afternoon huge schools of anchovies or sardines (we're not sure which) would come close to shore and for the pelicans and sea gulls, it was an "all you can eat buffet." All of the pointing you see in the ocean photos in this collection are people amazed at seeing thousands of fish swimming seemingly close enough to touch, but untouchable.
